Día de los Muertos is celebrated yearly at the start of November to honour the dead. Families will create offrendas (alters) to honour their dead relatives and decorate them with their favourite foods and drinks.
Many families will spend the night at the cemetery where their family members are buried, eating food, catching up and drinking lots of Mezcal.
For the days around Muertos, the streets of Oaxaca host several parades with music, fireworks and even more mezcal.
