Legare - Tower Bridge
Our Rating: ★★ | £££ - Impressive itallian cooking
From the moment we stepped into Legare, Roberto, the manager, set a welcoming tone with his amiable demeanour and his expertise in guiding us through the menu and drink selections.
Our culinary journey began with starters that impressed us right off the bat. The Roasted Garlic & Oregano Focaccia with Olive Oil was a delicious introduction. The Beef Tartare, accompanied by egg yolk and "Tartufo Povero," was a solid, enjoyable dish, though it was the Calf's Liver with Roscoff Onions that truly stole the show in this category. Cooked to perfection and served with an outstanding sauce, it was a dish we all agreed was a must-order.
The pasta course continued to tantalize our taste buds. The Fettuccelle with short-rib Genovese ragu was a hit, its perfectly textured pasta and rich, tender meat making for a delightful combination. The Delica pumpkin agnolotti with sage butter and chestnuts offered a unique flavour profile, wonderfully buttery and rich, though the flavours were notably intense.
As for the desserts, they were the crowning glory of our meal. The cannoli, filled with chocolate and hazelnuts, had an impeccable texture and taste, reminiscent of the finest quality Nutella. The lemon panna cotta was a masterclass in dessert-making, balancing its flavours perfectly. The pear, almond, and polenta cake, served with caramel sauce, was enjoyable, although the sauce's tendency to harden was a slight drawback.
While we noted the price point was a bit steep, especially for pasta dishes in London, the overall experience at Legare made it a worthwhile indulgence. Looking back, the standout dishes for us were undoubtedly the calf's liver and both desserts, showcasing the high level of culinary craftsmanship at Legare. It was an evening that not only filled our stomachs but also left us with lasting, delicious memories.
