Top 3 Coffee Shops in Mossel Bay

If you’re driving the Garden Route from Cape Town, your first stop is likely to be Mossel Bay, the official starting point of this iconic journey. With its laid-back coastal charm, long sandy beaches, and the scenic St. Blaize Trail, it’s the perfect place to pause and recharge.

And what better way to do that than with a great cup of coffee? Whether you’re after a cosy nook or a sunny courtyard, we found three fantastic spots that serve top-notch brews because after a day of exploring, a quality coffee (and perhaps a slice of cake) is just what you need.

Blue Shed Coffee Roastery

At first glance, Blue Shed Coffee Roastery might not scream “amazing coffee,” but don’t be fooled by appearances – this place knows what it’s doing. Their coffee is so delicious that we couldn’t resist taking some ground beans home for our cafetière.

This is a coffee and cake place; do not expect a meal.

With its antique junkyard-inspired decor, the café has a unique vibe. Both indoor and outdoor seating options are available, though bear in mind it can get a bit toasty inside on cloudless days as there’s no air con.

It’s laptop-friendly and even boasts a view of the sea, making it a great spot to linger and enjoy the atmosphere.

They sell their own beans, so you can stock up if you love their brew as much as we did.

Fact: They also have a branch in Wilderness, Garden Route, called Green Shed.

C&P Roastery

If you appreciate coffee that’s brewed with precision and care, C&P Roastery is a must-visit. The friendly staff are true coffee aficionados and more than happy to chat about their brewing methods – it’s like a mini coffee lesson with every visit.

This spot has a simple, unpretentious charm. There’s a sofa indoors for those chillier days, as well as a small outdoor area where you can sip your coffee al fresco. The focus here is firmly on quality coffee, and it shows.

The Merchant Coffee

Whether you’re after breakfast or just a caffeine hit, The Merchant Coffee is a fantastic option. Its inviting indoor space and front courtyard (at their town branch which we visited) make it ideal for everything from a quick stop to a leisurely meal. They have another branch at Bayview as well as in the Mall.

Aside from great coffee, they’ve got plenty of merch for sale, perfect if you’re looking to take home a souvenir or gift. Plus, there’s parking conveniently located just next to the town branch, making it an easy stop while exploring Mossel Bay. It’s dog-friendly too.
